It takes place every fall, where three women from our community are selected from a group of contestants to serve as city hostesses for one year. This program is a sisterhood, focusing on building self esteem and community service!
Prizes, local appearances, personal training and the opportunity to represent Bakersfield as a city hostess a various events are awarded. Judging is based upon poise, personality, overall physical appearance and speaking ability. All contestants in the Bakersfield Pageant receive training in interview technique, fashion co-ordination, make-up & hair styling, public speaking and self-image evaluation during the four weeks of preparation and rehearsals.
The director is Gayle Tape, a resident of Bakersfield, former Miss California & Runner-up to Miss USA. She has been directing & producing pageants for over 40 years with a background in television journalism & credential in Fashion Coordination & Modeling.
